Dr. Todd Carrico – President and CEO
Dr Carrico is the founder of Cougaar Software. He is a former DARPA program manager for the Advanced Logistics Project (ALP) and later the UltraLog Program. He is a recognized expert in intelligent distributed systems. He has extensive experience leading various government and military efforts that have dealt with advanced technologies such as intelligent agents, grid computing, RFID, situation awareness and information fusion in such areas as Logistics, with special expertise in advanced concepts around the Sense & Respond paradigm. Dr. Carrico has been designing and building large-scale cognitive agent architectures and applications for over seven years. Prior to his DAPRA experience was an Air Force Captain.
Mr. Melvin Sassoon – VP of Federal Solutions
Mr. Sassoon has over 15 years of consulting and technology experience working with the US government in the military, civilian and intelligence communities. For CSI he is responsible for delivery of the ActiveEdge platform and solutions to the US Federal government either directly or through teaming relationships with System Integrators. During the past 3 years Mr. Sassoon has been actively involved in many of the CSI projects and has worked closely with clients in the delivery of our technology and associated solutions. This includes, Adaptive Logistics Capability Tool (ALCT), Commanders Portal and Enterprise Based Adaptive Logistics (EBAL) and re-hosting threads of the DARPA UltraLog simulation to the ActiveEdge platform.
Mr. Eric Levy-Myers - VP of Commercial Solutions
Mr. Levy-Myers has over 20 years experience as a senior manager and technology focused management consultant. He is responsible for setting the corporate business and marketing strategy as well as for commercial sales. Prior to CSI, he was an independent management consult and defense analyst. As a management consultant he developed business strategies for business start-ups. As a defense analyst he used open source methods to scout and evaluate technology for military applications as well as develop CONOPS for organizations such as OSD, Air Force, and ONR as well as analysis of rapid acquisition processes for IDA. Previously, he spent 6 years at American Management Systems (AMS, now CGI) where he was a business strategist doing project for Fortune 100 global companies. In his last two years at AMS he co-founded and managed the eCustomer Group, a cross industry eCommerice and Web development organization.
Mr. John Anderson – Chief Architect
Mr. Anderson has over 30 years experience in the development, acquisition, operation, and life cycle support of software systems. He has designed and developed commercial and government software and systems for a variety of environments addressing information technology for business, embedded systems, and command, control and communication (C3) applications. Mr. Anderson is a leader in the technical community in advancing practical application of enterprise architecture (EA), software engineering, object-oriented development, Total Quality Management, and Process Engineering. Mr. Anderson has been the Principal Investigator for successful research and development projects at Texas Instruments, Computer Sciences Corporation, and the MITRE Corporation. He has also been the lead architect for major enterprise-wide initiatives in US, Europe and Africa. Throughout his career, he has been a champion of disciplined software engineering as a technology leader and teacher, contributing advancements in software engineering methodologies; enterprise architecture; information security; and the effective use of Defense standards such as DoD-STD-2167A, DoD-STD-498 and the DoD Architecture Framework (DODAF).
Mr. Brian Hicks – ActiveEdge Product Manager
Mr. Hicks is a Senior Software Engineer at Cougaar Software, Inc. focused on designing and building our distributed intelligent decision support platform ActiveEdge. He has over ten (10) years of experience designing and building Java based distributed solutions. He has hands-on experience with the Semantic Web, knowledge representation, agent technologies, OWL, and XML. As a senior member of our technical staff, he also works on various military related projects utilizing our flagship platform ActiveEdge. Most recently, Mr. Hicks has been an active contributor in an architecture role developing a number of the key deliverables for Office of Naval Research (ONR) Sense & Respond Logistics Phase I design. These included, Logistics Domain Topology & Configuration and Security & Survivability. Prior to this project Mr. Hicks was the Technical Lead on a major 12 month demonstration project with a large integration company building a next generation Logistics and Command & Control infrastructure, incorporating aspects of Adaptive Planning, Execution Monitoring and Intelligent Decision Support. Mr Hicks was also lead software engineer on our Commanders Portal effort, which was integrated into the Simulation & Command and Control Information Systems Connectivity Experiments (SINCE) program, which is a US Army collaborative battlefield simulation. Prior to joining Cougaar Software in 2004, Mr. Hicks worked for SRA International and was a member of project team leading the Defense Manpower Data Center in a switch from a software architecture based on an old obsolete programming language called Aion to an architecture based on Java. Designed and developed a framework to allow rapid development of small, generic server-side database access applications.
