Cougaar Software, Inc. and Image Matters LLC team Wins 2005 Innovations in Geospatial Intelligence $1M Award

McLean, VA — November 15, 2005 — Cougaar Software, Inc. (CSI), a leading provider of intelligent agent technology solutions for the commercial and military sectors, today announced that they are part of the Image Matters LLC team that it is the sole recipient of the 2005 Innovations in Geospatial Intelligence BAA Award from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). Image Matters and Cougaar Software, Inc., teamed with GeoFusion, Inc. and Prof. James Hendler to submit a proposal entitled “Automated Information Triage for Deep Geospatial Intelligence Analysis.”  The project seeks to perform critical innovative research and develop a demonstration prototype of a geospatial-intelligence analysis capability that features automated information triage and advanced visualization and collaboration technologies.

NGA is a Department of Defense combat support agency and a member of the National Intelligence Community whose mission is to provide timely, relevant and accurate geospatial intelligence in support of the United States of America’s national security.

The NGA InnoVision Directorate Selection Committee reviewed 50 proposals for the Geospatial Intelligence award, an award that is given for innovative and non-traditional geospatial-intelligence concepts to help solve enduring intelligence problems facing the Nation. The winning proposal identified innovative, cutting edge concepts to address critical geospatial intelligence problems.
